Description
Formed in the north London suburb of Hendon in 1986. Their name reportedly came about after a long discussion about names ended up with one of them claiming "That's Enough" which was then shortened to Snuff.
"There were some melodic bands but the melody of The Buzzcocks and The Undertones had just gone. It was a wall of noise. We stepped into it and just wanted to sing some melody over the fast-paced stuff that we'd heard, like Minor Threat and Bad Brains. The world was a bit crusty, but we liked the mod bands as well. We just liked a bit of melody."
Supported by John Peel the band signed to Workers Playtime, released records and performed sold-out shows around the U.K. After selling out the Kilburn National the original trio of Duncan, Simon and Andy split up in 1991. In 1996 Snuff returned in an evolved form led by Duncan, signed to Steve Lamacq's label Deceptive and NOFX's Fat Wreck Chords and put out their record "Demamussabebonk"". More sold-out shows and records followed. These days the band releases their records on their own label 10 Past 12 Records.
