Abwärts - Hurra

Abwärts can justifiably be called a pioneer of German-language punk rock. Founded in 1979, first appearance at the legendary "Geräusche für die 80er" festival in Hamburg's Markthalle, 1980 the first single "Computerstaat", which is still influential today.
"Hurra" is the seventh album of the band from 1994, released exclusively as a CD and at the same time the final point of the cooperation with the major label EMI. Among other things, because they could not bring themselves to release the controversial single "Zonenzombie".
Abwärts managed to stay far away from the zeitgeist and the Teutonic cliché sound for decades, always completely their own, always sarcastically cynical to caustic and with a lyrical greatness and diversity that hardly any other German band can offer.
Critical, soulful, unjust and so unwilling to compromise that it was never enough for the big commercial breakthrough. The "Hamburger Rüpelrocker" (Der Spiegel) were always too moralistic with their laconic truths.
"Hurra" is powerful, angry and disillusioned, settles accounts with the German conditions of the early nineties as well as with rock star clichés and is right on target with its prophetic dystopia "Europe".
"Hurra" was released - typical 1990s - exclusively as CD and now comes for the first time ever on vinyl: True to style as a fat double LP in gatefold cover with revised artwork, all lyrics, download code and marbled color vinyl. Plus bonus track "Grab dich selber ein" as acoustic version.
