The third album of the Finnish ska darlings surprises with 14 charmingly original cover versions of top-class classics of the punk / wave history and is released as CD and vinyl version on PORK PIE.THE VALKYRIANS are back and present with "Punkrocksteady" a tasteful sweep through music history. The originals of the covered songs are not only obvious punk classics by bands like THE CLASH, SHAM 69, COCK SPARRER, MISFITS or 999, but also pearls of the post punk and new wave era (BLONDIE, JOY DIVISION, WIRE, DEVO or ELVIS COSTELLO). The connection of the genres ska and reggae with punk rock is of course well known. But the charm of the interpretation and the soulful devotion of the 5 Finns lead to amazing results. Their incomparable sound mix of 2Tone Ska, Rocksteady and Early Reggae as well as White Soul more than suits the chosen songs, and the VALKYRIANS take on the originals with a lot of respect and musical expertise. And although ANGSTER's unmistakable vocals suit the songs very well, it's a pleasure to have punk rock legend TV SMITH as guest vocalist to interpret his ADVERTS hit "Gary Gilmore's Eyes" right away. The VALKYRIANS, active for almost 10 years, take the not unrisky hurdle of a complete cover album with bravura and will surely win many new fans with "Punkrocksteady".
