York City's own Street Soldier, spitting shit made straight for the pit, originally formed by Scotty (vocals) with the help of the Drill Sgt (drums), was originally born to put out a 3-track EP to leave their mark on the UKHC scene. After the response to their debut EP, they decided to go all out and start playing shows, with Ollie (guitar) and Cam (bass) jumping on board soon after. They never looked back! Street Soldier take influences from bands such as Hatebreed, The Exploited and Biohazard, while incorporating savage beatdowns similar to Six Ft Ditch and Cold Hard Truth, and even throwing in a pinch of their rap influences such as the Beastie Boys and Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. Not scared of showing you where they come from, or what they represent, Street Soldier bring that Yorkshire style to the table, lyrically turning negatives into positives, turning the weak strong, showing that it's okay to stand up for what you believe in and fight for what's right, with a hint of Murda. STREET SOLDIER from York, UK, have made waves in the last couple of years across the UK Hardcore scene, and even overseas, and now Rucktion Records is proud to bring you their debut release for the label! "Turn Dangerous" is the band's 4th recording, featuring 6 brand new tracks but with the additional bonus of the band's previous three releases included. That's 15 tracks of unashamedly English-sounding Beatdown-style hardcore, from a band that quickly went from a studio project to a fully-fledged touring act, travelling the length of the UK and beyond and sharing the stage with a diverse array of big names. While their style may be unmistakably rooted in the classic 90's East Coast US beatdown sound that first popularised this sub-genre of hardcore, over the course of "Turn Dangerous" STREET SOLDIER take many twists and turns, bringing influences as diverse as the speedy crossover stylings of "Boot Off (Ready For War)" or "Crew Don't Run", or adding in rap-influenced vocal patterns throughout. Funk-influenced basslines occasionally break up the relentless aggression, and most songs feature some dual vocal interplay between main vocalist and founder member Scotty, and drummer Laurie. The band prove they can seamlessly go from the opening statement of intent "Here It Is" (what could be more hardcore than a 45-second song?) to the ultra-heavy "Straight Up Murda" which features Don from Waking The Cadaver and Dan of Gassed Up. The dominant lyrical themes here are pride, standing up for yourself and staying far away from the outside world. And just in case you couldn't place their distinctive accents, words like "mate", "cunt" and "bin bag" peppered throughout the lyrics leave no doubt where STREET SOLDIER originate from. STREET SOLDIER have taken an established formula and added in plenty of their own personality, as well as plenty of pride in their roots in the North of England. "Turn Dangerous" re-imagines beatdown hardcore for a new generation. The UK's fast-rising beatdown sensations, unmistakably English sounding hardcore with elements of rap, metal and more. For fans of Bun Dem Out, Biohazard, Cold Hard Truth, TRC, Ironed Out, Six Ft Ditch & Ninebar.
