Warsaw - Same PRE-ORDER

The highly acclaimed British post-punk band Joy Division originally had the name Warsaw. The group was formed in Manchester, England in the late 1970s and consisted of Ian Curtis (vocals), Bernard Albrecht (also known as Sumner, or Dicken) (guitar), Peter Hook (bass) and Stephen Morris (drums). Hook, Albrecht and Curtis met at a local concert and later formed the band Warsaw. The band name came from a composition by David Bowie and Brian Eno, "Warszawa".


The five bonus tracks on this album are demos that the band recorded on 18 July 1977 at Pennine Studios in Manchester with Steve Brotherdale on drums. The first eleven tracks on the album were recorded during a recording session at the beginning of May 1978. Rehearsals before the session led to the creation of two new songs that were added to the band's existing repertoire: "Interzone" and "Transmission". "Interzone" was based on the backing track of the song "Keep On Keepin' On", to which the band added their own lyrics, resulting in a distinctly original song. "Transmission" was written by the band in the last week of rehearsals before recording. The first verse contains a quote from Alistair Crowley's "The Book Of Thoth". These two recordings offer interesting insights into songs that would later become classics.
