Description

With the release of their self-titled debut album, KORN changed the world. It was an album that led the way for an entire genre, and the band's continued success proves that it wasn't just a snapshot in time. As The FADER recalls, "There was an unexpected opening in the pop landscape, and KORN articulated a generational sense of optimism. KORN became the soundtrack of a generation as a growling, stomping, systemically chastened freak show."

Since their inception, KORN has sold 40 million albums worldwide, received two GRAMMYS, toured the world countless times, and set countless records that will likely never be surpassed. Singer Jonathan Davis, guitarists James "Munky" Shaffer and Brian "Head" Welch, bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu and drummer Ray Luzier have continually pushed the boundaries of the rock, alternative and metal genres and continue to maintain their influence on their fans and entire generations of artists around the globe to this day.

Yet KORN's reach extends far beyond awards and platinum certifications. They are "a true movement in a way that bands can't be today," says The Ringer. They represent radical innovation, and their ability to transcend genres makes boundaries seem irrelevant.

This is also represented by their new album, "Requiem". Here, the band deals with letting go of old vices, rising from one's own crisis and shatters it with their usual hard riffs and lyrics. The dark shedding and stepping into the light, moving out of crisis and emerging stronger are motifs that seem like symbolic images of our current world. Korn offers an unpathetic soundtrack for exactly this time after a crisis that moves us all collectively and individually.
