Description

Flogging Molly is not so much a band as a transatlantic, Celtic punk institution. Over the course of 25 years and after thousands of concerts around the world, Flogging Molly has crossed the boundaries between genres. It has become one of the few bands to literally share the stage with The Chieftains one day and Motörhead the next. For Flogging Molly's seventh album, Anthem, the band led by husband and wife duo Dave King (vocals, guitar, bodhrán) and Bridget Regan (fiddle, tin whistle, backing vocals) decided to return to their roots. The band recorded 14 songs in 14 days with Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies) at Electrical Audio Studio in Chicago.

Ultimately, there is no other band like Flogging Molly that can switch so effortlessly between punk and folk. The fact that several generations of fans now come to the band's concerts is proof of their continuing relevance. This brings us full circle back to "Anthem". "With this record, we went back to basics in a way we couldn't have if we hadn't been playing together for 20 years," King sums up. "I think we had a lot of fun going back to Chicago and making this record with Steve, and I think you can hear that in the record. For Flogging Molly, the goal is always to come together and play new songs - and now we're just looking forward to playing those songs live and bringing a whole new era of Flogging Molly to our fans." The band and the world have been through a lot in recent years. "Anthem" is about the collective spirit that we all possess and that allows us to
that allows us to look to the future.
