Derrumbando Defensas - Sistema Criminal
Description
On October 18, 2019, the fare for the subway in Santiago De Chile was increased by 30 Chilean pesos. This equivalent of 3 cents was too much.
Thousands jumped the turnstiles of public transportation in Santiago that day. Within a few days, the protest spread nationwide against the prevailing poor-right divide and later led to a referendum on a new constitution to replace the old set of rules of the Pinochet dictatorship.
So strong was the resentment against the small price increase that it was no longer just about the money, but about the past 30 years in which the nation could not make any progress due to the prevailing neoliberal economic system.
"It's not 30 pesos, it's 30 years" was the tenor of the protests.
With the sound of the protests begins and ends the new album of DERRUMBANDO DEFENSAS from Temuco, the capital of the region de la Araucania, which is also the capital of the indigenous Mapuche.
In reference to the still not overcome old system and the unchanged repression against the Chilean indigenous people, the four musicians named it SISTEMA CRIMINAL.
