Desmond Dekker recorded some of his best known songs with his band The Aces. Her single 007 (Shanty Town) made him Jamaican music's first international superstar, topping the charts worldwide. Produced by Leslie Kong, Double Dekker was first issued in 1973 and consists of material recorded by the artist in his early years. In 1969 he scored a number 1 hit with the legendary song Israelites. On the album you can hear how the rocksteady sound developed from the ska music of the 60s. Ska, Blue Beat, Rock Steady - Dekker was instrumental in the development of numerous musical styles. Even before Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff became international superstars, musical genius Desmond Dekker was a bright star in the reggae sky.
