Description

"If I had a second chance, I would make it up to you." - Chester Bennington (translated from the lyrics by "Morei Sky"; 1994)

A lyric that can make you shiver afterwards. Quite a few sentences and passages appearing in Chester Bennington's songs have this quality: Much of what the musician, who died too soon, sang, cried out, packed into songs with his distinctive voice, whether with Linkin Park or another formation the stuff, had this unique stunner.

However, when he sang about that "second chance," Bennington was just 17 years old. He was then the singer and front man of his very first band: Gray Daze. His promise will come true in 2020 - when Gray Daze's Amends album is released on Loma Vista Recordings. Shortly before his death, Chester Bennington had planned to record a new album with Gray Daze, which was supposed to be released in 2018. Instead, the old bandmates from the nineties, friends of musicians, family members and other guests came together and did everything to give the song ideas that "second chance" that these compositions deserved. Ultimately, they were supposed to complete what the late musician had started.

Amends is an album, the history of which spanned two decades. In fact, this story begins as early as 1992 when Sean founds a small band project in Phoenix, Arizona. A mutual friend made the suggestion to try 15-year-old Chester as a singer. Even if this very first band should soon break up again, just six months later another constellation emerged - Gray Daze. They made a name for themselves in the Phoenix area, especially with their self-published debut "Wake Me" from 1994. First, the clubs in the city were regularly sold out, in 1996 they were even able to stage with bands like Bush or No Share doubt. When they added "... no sun today" in 1997, they easily filled 2000 halls in their home region. Then came the end: Although several contracts were signed in between, there were conflicts within the band - and the dissolution in 1998.
