This publication is 36 years overdue, because women in the GDR punk scene are underrepresented in the history of punk in the GDR, even though they existed and were visible, even though they were just as active and subject to the same repression and resistance as their male companions. This book will change that.
In interviews, diary excerpts and their own contributions, 23 women, including Kim, Jana, Mita, China, Connie, V1, Anne, Wombel, Inka, NinA, Nancy, Sheela and Tupfer, talk about their experiences with the GDR regime, put unspoken truths on the table and give a deep insight into the underground of the socialist system.
