Dritte Wahl is a German-language punk rock band from Rostock that formed in the late 1980s. The band plays German punk with distinct metal influences and sings very direct, politically militant, left-wing lyrics, which drew the usual state reprisals during the GDR era. In 1996, Dritte Wahl released their third album, “Nimm drei.” It was produced in Braunschweig at Whiteline Studio by Uwe Golz (also a guitarist with Daily Terror) and Uwe Rust. “Nimm drei” marked a significant step toward greater professionalism for the Rostock-based band. The powerful album stands out sonically from their two earlier works, “Fasching in Bonn” (1992) and “Auge um Auge” (1994). It is characterized by very groovy, guitar-driven songs. This is complemented by constant vocal interplay between the two frontmen, Marko “Busch”n" Busch (vocals, bass) and Gunnar Schroeder (vocals, guitar). The trio is rounded out by Krel (drums), who constantly drives the songs forward with his rousing beats. Even today, several tracks from this album remain on every setlist of the touring band.
