With their noted admiration of THE CLASH, it seems likely that BURNING STREETS took their name from one of Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros best songs off their final release, Streetcore. Said admiration is also embedded in the albums lyrics as the opener Kiss the World Goodbye suggests, The future is unwritten, true hearts never die / But if you've lost all your passion, kiss the world goodbye." Musically, Bostons BURNING STREETS dont so much resemble THE CLASH as they do melodic street punk neighbours like FAR FROM FINISHED, THE DUCKY BOYS and STREET DOGS. THE BOUNCING SOULS catch a namedrop on 13 Hours and would also seem to serve as an influence, especially on the punk ballad of a closer, Throwing Rocks. Vocalist Drew Juliano has a kind of Trevor Keith-quality in his pipes that blends with the natural Boston accent for a nice overall feel that isn't too poppy or too gruff. This is evident in tracks like Youre Alive and Today and The Reason, which also demonstrates the aforementioned THE BOUNCING SOULS influence in music and lyrics as Juliano sings, Just stay a true believer / And well never let you down." With a youthful attitude and a passion for the power of music, BURNING STREETS is simply four kids playing their own style of the songs that have touched their hearts, forever harboring that need for new experience in a sometimes not so intriguing world. Factory, The - same-Ganz im Sinne ihrer Vorfahren NEW YORK DOLLS, STOOGES und DEAD BOYS starteten THE FACTORY wie das größte Feuerwerk durch, um schnell auszuglühen und in der Versenkung zu verschwinden. Die Band aus Washington DC regierte in den späten 80ern die Szene, machte den Support für IGGY POP, die RAMONES, PUBLIC IMAGE LTD. und JOHNNY THUNDERS und sorgte bei Fans und Kritikern an der Ostküste für gespitze Ohren. Mit Bandleader Vance Bockis (vorher bei THE OBESSED, 9353 und den Doom Metal Göttern PENTAGRAM) waren THE FACTORY die rotzigen Erben der STONES der 70er und knüpften da an, wo die punkige Dreistigkeit von "Some Girls" und "Tattoo You" aufhörten, um eine explosive Mischung aus Rock'n'Roll, Punk und R&B zusammenzustellen. Leider brach die Band unter Einflüssen von außen 1992 auseinander, ohne offiziell mehr als einen Track auf einer Compilation veröffentlicht zu haben. Der Acetate Chef Rick Ballard hob ein Demo von THE FACTORY auf, das er vor 20 Jahren vom Gitarristen Robbie Limon bekommen hatte und stieß kürzlich online auf die Band. Er kontaktierte sie, um einen Release zu besprechen. Kurz darauf wurden die Masterbänder aufgetrieben, abgestaubt und gemastert. "Self Submission" tritt das Album mit der Unaufdringlichkeit eines Weckers ins Leben, während der letzte Song "Six Feet Down" ein Warnschuss in Richtung eines Lebens ist, das an allen Ecken und Enden über Grenzen gedrückt wird. Dazwischen erforschen THE FACTORY mühelos eine schäbige, drogenlastige und manchmal grandiose Seite der Großstadt. Rush'n'Attack - the pitch-This Dutch outfit offers a stylistic blender mix that for the most part surprises, but only gradually wins you over. Tense, twangy lead guitar plays over screamed vocals with a Henry Rollins intensity. The arrangements have a tight, MINUTEMEN flavor, though RUSH'N ATTACK cleary err on the side of hardcore. The end result is fairly original, and i'd be willing to bid that they'd be a thrilling live band. Good, but listen more than just once. (MRR) -

Les Savy Fav - root for ruin PRE-ORDER-Seit ihrem Abschluss auf der Rhode Island School of Design im Jahre 1996 haben Les Savy Fav es geschafft sich eine brennende Anhängerschaft die altbekannte Art und Weise zuzulegen: ganz einfach indem sie es sich verdient und den ganzen Globus mit Live-Show beackert haben. Drei Jahre nach ihrem hoch gelobten Longplayer "Let's Stay Friends", melden sich die New Yorker Jungs von Les Savy Fav im September mit ihrem neuen Album "Root For Ruin" zurück. Gitarrist Syd Butler schaut dem Release aufgeregt entgegen: "I think 'Root for Ruin' somehow captures all the best parts of LES SAVY FAV.
