Iggy & The Stooges - escaped maniacs-Als unbestrittener Vater des Punk erfand IGGY POP den Punk Jahre bevor Johnny Rotten und die SEX PISTOLS 1977 die Charts aufmischten. Die Medien lieben IGGY noch immer, so dass seine Popularität dieser Tage auf einem neuen Hoch angekommen ist. Im Jahre 2006 kam seine ursprüngliche Band, die STOOGES, nach über 30 Jahren nach ihrer Auflösung 1974 wieder zusammen und startete im Rücken ihres neuen Albums "The Weirdness" eine Welttournee. Diese spektakuläre (und wer IGGY jemals live gesehen hat, weiß, dass "spektakulär" bei Mr POP noch einmal deutlich anders definiert wird) Performance wurde 2005 beim Lokerse Festival gefilmt und wartet mit den meisten Tracks der ersten beiden STOOGES Alben sowie den neuen "Skull Ring" und "Dead Rock Star" auf. Von den ersten Noten des Basslaufs von "Loose" an, ist klar, dass die STOOGES über die Jahre hinweg rein gar nichts von ihre rohen Kraft eingebüßt haben. Ohne die STOOGES gäbe es keine SEX PISTOLS, nicht einmal GREEN DAY, doch der Einfluss der Band reichte noch viel weiter als das - durch die 80er hindurch in die 90er und von da ins neue Jahrtausend. Oder um IGGY mit THURSTON MOOREs (SONIC YOUTH) Worten zu beschreiben: "After all this time, he's still at war." (Rolling Stone, April 2005). -
